I mowed 20 acres of hay three times for a couple summers, 6 ft Brillion trailing rotary cutter plus chopped 120 acres of corn stalks every fall. Super H FARMALL, ran 3rd gear, 5 mph. Our sickle mower was plum wore out, had to stop and unplug the sickle way too many times. 20 acres of Alfalfa only took 5-6 hours. Took 2-3 weekends in fall to chop stalks. I hauled in and unloaded when we picked corn so I couldn't get an early start. I did get some fall plowing done after chopping. Fall of 1964 we had a perfect Saturday, done picking, Dad hooked the SM-TA to the #8 3-14 IH plow. We spent ALL MORNING trying to plow one round in half mile rows, Should have chopped or disked the stalks first.
