Hello Miss-man welcome to YT! You need to get a meter to read the battery voltage. When you start it and run it full throttle it should read 13 to the lower 14. something volts. Also would not hurt to check the alternator belt tension. A good rule of thumb is that the alternator will have a cooling fan on it right behind the belt pulley. You should not be able to place your thumb against it and get it to turn slipping pulley in the belt. Do you hear a clicking or buzzing sound when the key is turned on? If so this may indicate an electric fuel pump has been installed to replace a none working mechanical fuel supply pump. Since your pump shut off is operated by a cable and not an electrical solenoid this added fuel pump would be a reason for your tractor to quit when the battery runs low. You have not replied with an answer about it having a cab and run electrical equipment, this would explain the fairly quick draw down of the battery if the alternator is not working. Lastly, I would suggest using a good flashlight and look down in the fuel tank to see if there is any crud in there that might be floating over the fuel outlet hole temporarily blocking it.

If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
