I sharpened them on a vertical belt sander and then touched them up with a file. They are sharp enough to cut a fingernail lengthways with no effort at all. Ask me how I know!
I wonder if they've been sharpened so many times that the edge is't where it's supposed to be anymore. I had to use all of the adjustment slot to get them the specified distance from the twine disk. Because of the orientation of the slot, that would also retard the cutting action. I wish I had a new one to compare them to.
