I have used a large paper clip and put the clip under the cap so any pressure will force coolant into the overflow bottle. That way I run with no pressure in the radiator and catch coolant.

I would only use a radiator stop leak as a last resort. I had to replace the heater core on a car because the stop leak blocked off the heater core. GRRRRRR. Never again will I try to replace a heater core. I'll let the dealer do the job next time..

I realize our gleaner may not have a heater core, but it could do the same to a radiator.
