Concentrated power generation does create large power plants, large solar farms, large dams, large wind mill farms. All of this contributes to your ability to flip your light switch on tonight. We could shut down all the power generating facilities, and have everyone own their own generators, wind mills, or solar panels. That way, everyone will have their own power generating system to supply their needs, and the noise & visuals will be spread across the land. The other thing that can be done is all of you really reduce the power consumption at your home. These facilities are only there to provide for the demand that YOU create. Reducing the demand by half, will reduce the need for the plants. Unfortunately, the NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard) are not willing to give up their views, nor their demand for power. Some folks here don't want the farm land to provide power, but, some of us are disappointed that that land isn't allowed to convert back to the forest it was 200 years ago. Last I knew, the US was one of the greater exporter of food in the world, so, we're not short of supplying ourselves. A lot of farm land here in Michigan is going back to nature because of the over-abundance.
Interesting conversation, but unfortunately, not everyone will be happy with the results.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule.
