i will also add my fathers parents came from the ukraine in 1929 and bought a quarter section of land for 10.00 . you had to open up the land and make it productive. most was all hand brushed and stumps blown out with dynamite. my uncle lost an eye due to that.it was all bush at the time. just as all the rest of the country. had to build their own log house to live in and other buildings like barn's for the horses and cows, and also pig pens, chicken coops. it was no where near like today where u just run to the store for groceries. flour was bought in 50 lb sacks for making bread also. then the sacks were made into dish cloths for washing and drying dishes. meat was all home grown. plus with a big garden. and people nowadays think they have it hard. also will add it took about one month to come over here on an old ship. i have the name of it also but not at the moment.
