It is called global warming (or at least it was). But despite all the claims no one has ever shown how the trace gas CO2 making up .04% of the atmosphere can make any measurable difference in the global temperatures. Many believe otherwise but the scientific testing to prove this in even a test environment has never been shown. The greenhouse gasses are a combination of gasses of which CO2 is an extremely small and insignificant part. The real and by far the most impactful greenhouse gas is water vapor - but trying to control it is impossible and any attempt raise taxes or change lifestyles to control it would be greeted to outright laughter. How are you going to prevent water from evaporating from the oceans? So they take aim at the one connected to the production of energy and food because that is where the money is - and people have only a small understanding of a gas they can't see, smell or detect.
Had they really wanted to take steps on preventing the release of excessive greenhouse gas the real aim should have been methane. But that would have only encouraged industry to trap it and use it as a means to produce energy - something the greens (watermelons as they are all Red on the inside) want nothing to do with.
