My washer/dryer is from 2003, and still in daily use. The heater contacts on the dryer timer fried a year ago and I got a used pull off ebay for $20 and it's working fine again.
My refrigerator is from 2000, working fine. About 10 years ago a plastic motorized damper door broke. The replacement part was available but more than I cared to pay so I went out to the shop and machined a replacement door in about 30 minutes which continues to work fine. Today I'd probably 3D print a plastic replacement door for it. Either way, another 20+ year old appliance still working fine with some basic maintenance.
The hot surface ignitor on my six year old oven just died, $25 part from scamazon and 10 minutes to replace it and it's fine again. I'm sure a lot of folks younger than I am (53) would go buy a new range rather than spend a little time to identify the problem get a replacement part and change it.
