With the distributor on the front of the engine it could be a big block engine: 361 to 440 family. Most likely a 361 in an early truck. What year is the truck?
Check the VIN number or read the engine number stamped into a boss on the top front of the block between the valley cover and the water pump. A lot can be changed over 45 to 60 years.
