I stumbled on a Continental 4 cylinder flathead in a Clark forklift at my favorite junk yard. The tappet cover, freeze plug location and the F400 block casting number tell me its an L-head, but some things are throwing me off. Although the distributor is in the middle of the head, the head is not flat on top. It is somewhat humped up from the ends to the middle. And the gooseneck for the top radiator hose comes out near the rear of the head instead of near the front. The exhaust exits out the bottom front of the manifold but the intake is set up for a typical updraft MS carb. It was so enclosed I couldn't get any pics, but they are pulling it out in the next couple of days for me to look at. Any ideas on the version of this engine? It looks a lot like my F162's, but not quite. steve
