Around here no one will mess with a tire with a sidewall issue any more.
The tire will flex badly at that spot and will pinch the tube sooner than later. Inner boots can help but the edge of the boot itself adds another spot that can pinch a tube. And the real issue these days is that tubes are poor quality, they cant take the stuffing as they could 30 years ago.....
So they do the patching and it doesnt last and they get called back and they get a bad name for not doing the repair right.... so they just dont mess with sidewall issues any more.
You can try the bandaid fixes, but it might be best to know when to throw in the towel, bite the bullet....
These days just finding the right size tire to put on is a win. Its a new world.
Im waiting on the tire guy to show up to put on a combine tire and 2 tractor tires. If the grass dries up a little I need to take 2 implement tires off the chisel plow and get them replaced. One of those years.
