Yes, You probably got bad fuel, A few winters back I purchased gas at the local station in the middle of winter, had been blowing snow and moving some with my loader tractor. Filled both with new gas and they both quit running in about a minute. Drained both tanks and went to a different station about 10 miles away. Drained carbs and refilled with new gas and finished the removal of snow. Water in gas! It does happen more than you think.
