The D21 plugs are the highest Champion plugs in that application. hot plugs are often used in start stop multi start situations in which the engine is not operated at normal temperatures very often. They can stay cleaner because they become hotter sooner. They do not provide any better starting than any other appropriate plug because they just make spark as they all do. If a colder plug is used and does not foul, the starting will be the same. If the reactor is beginning to feel it age and uses oil a hotter plug will reduce misfire and fouling, but if that engine is put under full temp full load, it can initiate knock by being hot enough to ignite the mixture before spark! So run hotter plugs in a well used engine that is not seeing tillage level loads. a clean burning engine can use colder plugs to avoid the perignition issues noted above. Jim
