The Animagraffs website animates a number of other complex machines besides the Big Boy steam locomotive: jet airliner; WW2 submarine; P-51 fighter plane; Formula 1 race car; sailing war ship; etc. A good channel to keep an eye on.

Wm. W. Kratville was a photographer and historian for Union Pacific Railroad. He authored a number of railroad books including: Big Boy; The Challenger Locomotives; and The Mighty 800 where he writes about the development, design, manufacturing, usage, modifications and phase out of those UP locomotives. They are good reads, now mostly found on ebay.
