Had a few things to fix on the 1030. First was manifold gaskets. The manifold had a broken tab that needed to be fixed.
Drilling that hole was tough, that brass was hard. I've never had brazing get that hard before. Dulled several drill bits trying to get through.
Next was a leaking fuel tank. Had to remove the tab that holds the tank on to get to it.
That bracket is supposed to be welded to the cover plate onbthe tank that is put on intentionally loose to allow for flex, but the factory had burned through to the tank so when things moved it tore the tank. Then they soldered it more when trying to patch the tank which made things worse. I made sure it was done right so it should be good now.
Next was the hydraulic valve. One bank wouldn't re-center properly. The valve has a heat safety that will melt if things get too hot and that melted twice because the lever got left in the down position. When I had that apart I looked for the issue, expecting to fine a bad spring or something, but found nothing. So yesterday took it apart again looking for the issue.
Found one pin that pushed against the spool seamed soft. So I pulled the swivels off the outside looking for a broken spring. What I found was one spring in backward. This pick shows it correct.
You can see it's tapered, so when it was backward it went too deep into the fitting. Got it back together correct and it works good now.
Even put on a new muffler.
I will cut the bottom off so it goes down in the hood like it should. Hopefully that will be the last of the trips to the shop for that tractor for a while.
