They went out of business because their engineering was antiquated. Had a '64 Rambler Classic in near perfect condition. Got it in the mid 70s for $100. You almost couldn't give them away. Had a torque tube drive line that would jump into neutral every time I went over a RR crossing. Had a V8 that had almost as much power as a 4 cylinder. Had a '70 Hornet. Trunnion front suspension (like the Classic). Oil passage from the block to the rocker arms, where it met at the head to block joint, did not line up by design and just had a slot in the head gasket for oil to pass through. This slot would have a habit of getting clogged with silt from age and starve the rockers. Still had vacuum wipers. Door locks would constantly lock us out of the car while running. Only good thing was the junk yards were full of parts for it. First muscle car I ever drove in as a teen was an AMX. Still had trunnions IIRC (correct me if I'm wrong).

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
