It is very satisfying to know there are people out there that are willing to help and share knowledge about a problem - especially when they are solving a competitor's problem. I recently purchased an electronic ignition kit from a company (whom for professional reasons, I will not disclose). I had no end of problems in installing it because they made a mistake in installation instructions and were not cooperative in helping me. The following is an e-mail I sent to Genessee Products, the very helpful competitor will summarize. (I highly recomend these folks). Andy: Thanks for all the assistance, (including courtesy call-back and e-mail), you gave me in installing your competitor's electronic ignition on my John Deere 430. As I mentioned in our phone conversation, the problem, as I discovered with your trouble-shooting suggestion, was that the "mark" on the collar was 180 degrees off. They insisted that the mark (Yellow marking pen) was to be aligned with the slot in the distributor shaft, but as it turned out, it had to be on the opposite side. In fact, there was a small round pin in the plastic portion of the collar that lined up with the slot in the shaft, so it would seem obvious that the hand-made mark was put on the wrong side. Your assistance was particularly appreciated because the only answer I could get from them was to ship my whole distributor back to them (shipping costs two-ways on top of the $20 I originally paid for freight) and wait a number of days until they turned it around. With the weather the way as it has been in Indiana, I have been using this tractor almost every day for snow removal. I assumed that if the parts were in proper working order, it had to be some installation misalignment. A simple installation illustration or trouble-shooting guide as you provided would have saved me days of frustration. Your offer to exchange collars with me was above and beyond! (This is what I asked them to do and they refused). I regret not being able to send some immediate business your way, but I certainly will share this experience and pass on your name to the nearly 200 members of my tractor club as well as Yesterday's Tractors forum. If you are interested, I would be happy to give you some suggestions for advertising, including local clubs. We have a news letter for a minimal cost for business card-sized ad. (With 200 members having probably an average of two tractors each, - that's 399 potential orders. - I already have one) Thanks again, Andy and I will contact you next time I'm ready to buy something - not withstanding that your prices are much more attractive. Do you have a catalog? Thanks again,
