Ford 9N overheating

Am using restored 9N for mowing. Last summer after approx 50 hrs since overhaul, tractor began to overheat. Has a newly re-cored radiator, and no previous trouble. Other than defective water pump, or ditto thermostat, what could cause this??? Unit overheated in 10 minutes, and gas tank was overheated (not safe!!!) Am using a 5-ft rotary mower, but just taking 3-4 ft swaths. Thanks. BFJ
