Is the machine a diesel? If so, it could be that the fuel filters are not quite clean (just not really dirty enough that the machine won't run at all). When the fuel gets cold it thickens up some (you might have to be a rocket scientist to measure it but the filter knows) and might just be starving the fuel injection pump.
