Gibson 300 Brakes

I have a Gibson 300 that I have torn down to replace bearings in the differential. Since I hadit apart I wanted to replace brake bands. In order to do this I need to pull the brake drums off of the axle. I have placed a puller on the drum and tightened it down as much as I could, but the drum would not move. I smacked the end of the puller with a hammer and put Liquid wrench on the shaft, but still no luck. Any ideas on how to get it apart.
