I visited with a neighbor of my Mother's in Michigan this Christmas. He had many antique tractors including a 1917 Cross mount engine Case. One of his new projects was a 1936 Economy. He told me Sear-Roebuck sold those. They had a Model A engine and you could buy them with a new engine for $395 or without the engine for $295. If you bought it without you would probably be able to find a used engine to put in it. They were a real tractor. Probably Sears got the idea from all the home built doodle bugs made from shortened up Model A trucks with the cab removed.
