I'm not sure what that other guy is talking about
but if you are talking about the main drive clutch
for the tractor, you dont have to remove the engine but you do have to take the bolts out and slide it foreward. I have always taken the whole clutch and drive shaft out as a unit. Take the bolts out of the engine and slide it foreward as far as you can. Drive both pins out of the rear coupler, take the pin out of the throwout arm and the adjustment nut off. Then pull it back off of
the pins on the driving plate, then you should be
able to pull it out towards the front on the RH
side between the engine and the dash. To take it
apart, you need to rig up a way to compress the spring while holding it in a vise. Put the shaft in the vise vertically with the disc at the top.
leave the vise loose so that the back of the spring is resting on the jaws of the vise. Take a
chain and wrap it around the bottom of the vise and and put a pry bar on top of the shaft and wrap the other end of the chain around the pry bar and pull down to compress the spring. while
holding the spring compressed have someon tighten
the vise then drive the pin out. Then use the pry bar to let the tension off the spring while loostening thew vise. Be very carefull and wear saftey glasses. You may want to just take the assembly to your local dealer to be disassembled.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing. ... [Read Article]
