Older low compression engines such as an IHC "M" or an old 2 banger will do just fine without lead additives. The higher compression engines such as a 560 IHC or a 1700 Oliver, will last much longer with a lead substitute. If in fact one were to do "honest" work, like plow 100 acres with an old "M", then I would recomend a lead additive. Dan Fischer, Fischer Tractor Repair
