Start by hanging out on the John Deere board on this site. A subscription to Green Magazine is not a bad idea either. If you have basic mechanical skills, you can tackle a tractor rebuild. A good set of manuals (I think the "B" manuals are still available from John Deere, could be wrong), lots of reading and go slow. The best part of this hobby is meeting people and learning new things. Like the tenny-pump ad say..."Just Do It!"
