Ford 3400 or ???

I'm in the market for a Ford 3000 or 4000 Series Tractor but don't know much about them. I recently saw a clean looking tractor that the seller said was a 3400. When I looked at the metal I.D. tag under the hood I saw
"Tractor No. C246434"
"Model C4012K"
I suppose the "Tractor No." is the serial number but what does the Model no. "C4012K" mean? Is this is a 4000 series tractor or does it mean something else? Is there any web site where I can find out specifically what this number means? Also any words concerning pros/cons of owning a 3000 series vs. 4000 series would be helpful.
