If you take apart that cylinder you'll find there's little to it. The only thing that'll really wear is the leather seal which can still be had fron CaseIH for about $55. More of your problems are likely to come from the valve on the exhaust manifold. It's a poorly made casting and probably so rusted that if it's shot there's no repairing it either. I machined up a new one using the old flapper and it works great. When I went to unscrew the old one it just crumbled off. There also is a second valve on the other side of the engine which is pretty simple but probably needs to be disassembled, cleaned and maybe have that neoprene washer replaced. Once you get it all done the lift works pretty well. I use mine for my a-187 two way plow and for the leveling/grading blade when using it as a snowplow. The cylinder itself has about 500-600 pounds of push but it's not super quick. It'll lift the one bottom plows in about 4 seconds.
