I always like to see the water circulating in mine. If it didn't it could mean that if there was a thermostat in it , it could be stuck shut. Different things could be happening with a blown head gasket, water in the oil, loss of power, pressure in the coolant system (from the exhaust)
ect. (you don't want to see any foam, oil, or anything but coolant in the radiator, but you need it to be moving around......JJ
