Bart,

IPTO stands for Independent Power Take Off. The PTO operates independent of the clutch and forward motion of the tractor. It is also sometime called live pto. You can engage or disengage the PTO regardless of weather the tractor is in or out of gear and wether the clutch is engaged or not.
