I've successfully charged 6v batteries on my Farmall M with a single voltage (12 volt) charger by using 12 volt lamps as current-limiting series resistors.

An 1157 tail/turn lamp will limit charging current to about 2 amps max, a seal beam tractor headlamp about 3 amps, and a halogen auto headlamp about 5 amps.

It ain't elegant, but it works!
