I just read the article by Curtis VonFange about battery maintenance and I had these thoughts come to mind. Last year I was reading a book published by Paisano Publications called "Tech Tips & Tricks" from the editors of Easy Riders magazine. In this Particular volume they had a story about how to do an emergancy "rejuice" of your battery. It told a tale of a brother that broke down because of a worn out battery and how he drained the fluid through a filter (a clean rag) into a container. He then flushed the battery case with regular tap water to remove any sediment, refilled the battery with the original fluid, topped it off with tap water, and was able to roll start the scooter and charge the battery. I was having battery problems last spring and was a little short on funds so I tried this and it worked like a champ. I was able to keep my tractor running all summer and hope to continue next spring with the same battery (we'll see). I know this was not the safest procedure but it worked. P.S. I have found a lot of cross over ideas in these publications, if you get a chance check them out.
