Scott, Change any bulbs/lights to 12 volt: Change battery: Change voltage regulator to a 12 volt and polarize it, the old generator will work fine or you can change to a GM internal regulator type alternator if you go to a negative ground system. (If you do change from pos to neg ground, you have to reverse the ammeter leads and the coil connections) The starter will do fine unless you crank it for a very very long time. Add a ballast resistor in series with the high side of coil to drop coil voltage back down to six and limit current to save coil and point life. If you need more, post back.
