Mark T, John T here. Horsepower is a function of Torque multiplied by RPM. You get more torque if you increase the stroke, cause youve got a longer lever arm. Then getting the rpm up also, with the more torque from stroking, builds that hp youre looking for. Bore, Stroke, get rpm up, increase carburetion, and improve ignition and youre off.
