Is an IH504 with turf tires too big and heavy for finish Mowing?

Some guy is asking 2700$. I think it sounds like a great deal. Is this a great tractor? He couldn't give me the hours on it last night (he will call back). Should I just buy it and use it for utility work and field mowing because it is too big for finish mowing and use my 8n for finish mowing? It is a gas tractor. Did it come standard with a diff lock?
