john d. is correct. Not only do you get water vapor build up and condensation in the crankcase, your oil starts to water down with unburned fuel that gets past the rings. When things are good and hot, any fuel that gets past the rings evaporates out of the crankcase. When things are cold, you get no evaporation. Your oil soon turns black and stinks like unburned fuel. Very bad news for bearings. Not only that, fuel consumption goes up typically by about 20% because the engine is designed to run at about 180 degrees for complete combustion. Jeff
