i've built a few to pull behind golf carts/MH poneys/JD gators. i like to use a deck frame of 2" x 3/16 or 1/4" angle. mitered, with one leg of the angle up. then bolt 5/4 treated decking lumber down into this frame. for the price i like rear axles from small front wheel drive cars. i use springs from northern hydraulic. usually run two 2" or 3" channels from the front of the deck angle to the rear of the deck angle, under the deck. i use these runners as the support for the springs. that adds cost but a trailor with no springs is pretty hard on anything in the trailor (kids/wife/newborn calf) and i think they pull better. the wagons are neat but have you ever tried to back one? but with that said, i plan to build one that is kinda like a horse drawn wagon with a good seat for the kids. yes, you can buy cheaper that building, but the purchased trailors are too low for the work i do (hauling supplies and tools on the farm, deck height around 24 to 26" high) sorry for the run on, a picture is worth a thousand words. i got a digital camera today, but not smart enough to use it.
