We had a 656 Farmall Hydro with an F-11 Farmhand loader on it a few years back. I loved that set up! The hydro was easy to operate, no need for clutch problems. And the Farmhand F-11 loader was built fairly tough, had good reach, could lift high and lift a lot of weight. Second on the list would be our Farmall 544 with shuttle transmission. Goes about 20% faster in reverse whatever gear you are in. The Farmhand 270 quick tach loader isn't the strong point, but it makes a handy outfit for smaller spaces. We now have a 1256 with a Farmhand 235 loader, lots of power, will lift almost anything, but is big and ackward for small spaces. Shifting is also getting sloppy and difficult for times when you need to hurry. DREAM LOADER: IH Maxxum 5240 with shuttle transmission. Just a nice little powerful tractor with FWA so you don't get stuck. LOVE the shuttle, no need to clutch, just flip the lever and the tractor slows down, stops, and backs up. Also has 4 gear powershift. Steven

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
