If you don't know it, firing order can easily be determined by inspection.
The engine always fires or injects with both inlet and exhaust valves closed and near to top dead centre (on the 'compression' stroke).
Just simply remove the tappet or rocker cover and turn the engine slowly in the direction of normal rotation observing which order the above conditions apply. May be easier to determine which are inlet and exhaust valves and then just watch for the order these lift as you turn the engine. Gets difficult on a twelve cylinder engine but can be done!. 'Piece of cake' on a single cylinder but still needs to be checked on some singles to make sure its not timed 180 degrees out!!
Also if the injector pipes are fitted you could loosen the unions and watch for injection leakage as the engine is turned.
