Roy, What year is your tractor? If it does not have an ignition switch this would be a good time to get one on it. I have seen guys use the battery cable on or off the battery for a switch but that is kinda troublesome. You can buy a keyed switch at Wal Mart cheap and you want to run one side to the battery and the other side usually marked ACC to your white wire on the alt and the coil. The toggle switch would work but this would be better.
