Fargo,

A Farmall 504 is a row crop tractor. It came with a tricycle front end as standard and a wide front axle or single front axle as optional. The rear axles are adjustable to fit various row widths and it has 38" rear wheels. The operator sits high on the tractor. The International 504 is a Utility type tractor. It is a lower profile with a shorter wheelbase and the operator sits straddle the rear end. There is also a International 504 Row Crop. It has the short wheelbase of the International 504 and the operator sits straddle the rear end as on the International, but it has the same adjustable rear axles as the Farmall and the same size wheels as the Farmall. This gives it the same basic crop clearance as the Farmall but it is still of the lower profile Utility design. Hope this clears it up for you. Your tractor will either be; a Farmall 504, a International 504, or a International 504 Row Crop. There are also a couple of other versions of the 504 but I won't confuse the issue any more.

Harold H

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga ...
