I bought a B.F. Avery model V with a good size mower deck 48 or 50something inches (CRS) It was my Granfather's and he had added a power stearing pump to run a lift cly. The Little motor is only rated for 15Hp (hercules ZXB-3)and I dont think it will put that out right now. That is not a lot of power to run a deck that size and get the 1700# machine around. I have an I&T manual on order. SO should I go through the trouble of fixing the gov. redooing the valves, maybe a ring job and see if it will cut it. I grow a LOT better grass than Grampa. If it won't should I hot rod it? I might mill the head to raise the comp. ratio (sholdn't be a problem with the 89oc. I get on the farm) sand blast the manifolds, work on the ports and timeing? If I get her apart and find she needs boreing out will Alunimum pistons help with the unbalanced crank? OR should I just ditch the little Herc. and drop in a VW TDI or small car gas job (framed tractor) and make a live front PTO and add insterments while I'm at it? or is original better an let her live in the barn and mow with something else?

There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
