When I was young we had a Farmall A that we chored with, mowed, swathed etc.. That tractor shifted real nice from 3rd gear to 4th which is high gear without double clutching. 3rd was around 6mph and 4th was 10mph. We never started off in high gear even empty- always 3rd then 4th. We had a W6 as well. I can't remember this as well but I think you could shift from 4th to 5th OK in that one also.
