Alan, I think the prices are dictated by two factors, first the utility of the unit and the second is collectability. The Fords lead the price because they were the first with the 3 point hitch which made these little tractors universally desired on the small farm. The other manufacturers were not able to use the 3 point system until the patents expired around 1960. If you will look at the tractors that had the row crop and utility versions, the utility versions seem to have a greater value. For example, an IHC 300 or 350 utility tractor will pull a higher price when compared to the 300 or 350 row crop style. Likewise, the other brands follow suit. Utility tractors in good shape with 3 point and live PTO in SW Ohio sell for the following values: 30-40 HP John Deere (1020, 1520)=$6000 - 7000. 30-40 HP Ford (3000, 3600) = $5000 - 6000 30-40 HP Massey Ferguson (135, 150) = $4500 - 5500 30-40 HP CASE (430, 530) = $3500 - 4500 30-40 HP IHC (354, 424, 444) = $4000 - 5000 IHC Row Crop C,H, M, 300, 400; John Deere Row Crop: A, B; Case 200, 300 400 Row Crop; Allis WC, WD, 45 Row Crop; all range $1000 - $2500 unless there is something exceptional about them. Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
