Gravity feed should work fine. We have a saying here in the hills...."Gravity works!" In an industrial application the carb would have been fed from a remote tank which could have been located some distance away and not necessarily above the carb. I would suggest you get a manual for that tractor and follow it's suggestions on tune up, maintenance and repair. It'll be the best money you ever spent on your tractor. I use 10 40 detergent oil in my tractor, some still use nondetergent so they don't kick up the crud in the engine. (You did mean the engine crankcase for oil?...the rest of it probably uses 134 Ford spec lube) Best thing I ever did for my Ford after buying the manual was installing a pertronix electronic ignition. Now I have instant starting. I also have a 12 volt conversion, using the 12 volt starter the diesel used, and a 12V generator. I also have the optional Kohler gas tank /no sheet metal option, but that's another story. Have fun and be safe.. Feel free to ask away!(might want to get over on the Ford board, too. )

I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
