I agree. My dad was a JD man, he worked for them for some 28 years as a mechanic and salesman. I grew up thinking they were the only tractor. I worked for a guy doing custom work in the 60s and drove a Farmall M. Found out it was a pretty good tractor also and I kinda liked the foot clutch. A year ago I bought a SMTA Farmall because it was cheap and I thought I could part it out. Well I had to try to make it run so I did and then I had to make it run better so I did. It is a pretty good tractor too and does things my JDs won't, mainly because of the live pto. I'm on my dad's place and he has been gone for about 10 years but still wonder if I'll get hit by lightning someday because of that Farmall. Regardless of the make of tractor you work on it is the fun of making it run or run better or look better that pushes us all. All makes made some good tractors and some that should never have been produced but all are fun to work with.

Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
