When the time comes, and I pray it never does, that we who live in this country expect our government to protect us from every and all evils of this world, we better expect that that government will have the authority to tell us virtually everything we may, and everything we may not do, while we live here. If we have to surrender every right we have to live in an impervious "bubble" of security, we will have no more freedom than did a common Roman Galley slave or does the cow that a dairyperson milks for a living. These remarks are not intended lessen the severity of the crime that happened Sept. 11th. Our government has every right to search the world for the perpetrators of this act and bring them to justice, no matter who they are, or what cause they are serving. The problem may be that, in the process of attempting to eliminate any further possibility of a similar crime against our American Way of Life, and the human right of freedom from harm, we might over react. Or worse, should we use the need to "beef up" our security to impose unconstitutional regulations upon our society. We must make it clear in whatever way we can to our government that we will not tolerate this action. If anyone seriously feels their right of privacy is being infringed upon, they should protest to their elected government representatives with the details of the event or events of the infringement.
