Hour meters on antique tractors can be real confusing and a poor indicator of a tractor's usage. On an old tractor, what you see and how it sounds is what you get, if it doesn't run, it's only what you see. Unless you have a lot of experience with old tractors, you are literally gambling when you buy something, against pretty heavy odds. If you're experienced, I don't think you'd be asking this kind of question(s). Finding an authoritative, experienced person to help you pick out a tractor will lessen your chances of getting "clipped". If you're looking for a tractor less that 20 years old, hour meter hours might be considered in appraising a tractor. If the tractor is less than 10 years old, yes, the hours registered on the meter are important, but the tractor better have the original meter or it's reading is totally misleading. You really need experienced help,"on your side", when buying anything as expensive as a decent tractor. If you're looking for restorable junk, take a chance, we all do, that's how we get experience, one way anyhow. Don't pay too much for anything without really knowing what it is. Prudence pays when playing with tractors in the long run.

There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
