not trying to be antagonistic, but look at a drawbar from a tractor that has pulled mostly smaller, easier pulling stuff such as balers, spreaders, hay racks, and then look at one that has pulled mostly heavy tillage equipment like drawn moldboard plows, disks, chisel plows. there is a difference. i do agree that bolts and small pins were used, but they wouldn't hold up to hard pulling. a machinery jockey told me about the drawbar hole shape back in the early 70's, and i've remembered it since. but, to each his own. in any case, i figure that the unproven hour meter has 2 purposes- tells when it's time to change oil, and it fills a hole in the dash.
