Hi there greaseman,

The one on my AC-B is actually a square headed bolt, inserted from inside the exhaust manifold pipe/muffler opening and serves to hold the exhaust pipe/muffler in place until the thing gets frozen in place by heat and rust. The bolt fits in a slot in the end of the exhaust pipe and is tightened by a nut and washer from the outside. It also shows this way in my AC-B parts book. So much for the know-it-all :o).
