If you are smart, figure what you can earn from the land, subtract what the crop costs you, keep a little for profit, and bid this. Now, the big guys will probably beat you, but if you pay their price, you will go in the hole, that doesn't work either. What should you pay? You didn't give a location, 'here' it's $100-150 an acre. I hear some places in the south it's $30-40, while some parts of Indiana are a bit over $200 an acre. I would suppose we can't really tell you what to pay... Would the owner consider crop share from you? --->Paul
