I had the same problem as Screaminghollow with the stakes moving around. I made a tool to drive 3/8 rebar about 4" below the surface of the ground and used 5' lengths so driven just a couple of inches laterally from the correct stakes. Those disturbing the original stakes are unlikely to discover my rods, but a surveyor would find them.
